The University Libraries will host a series of free workshops to help students learn how to become better researchers and utilize all resources available.
The next workshop, EndNote Citation Management, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Carlson Library Room 1025.
“The library wants to help students succeed, determining their point of need, and continuing to provide guidance and help as their information needs change and expand,” said Thomas Atwood, upper division undergraduate/graduate information literacy coordinator.
Topics that will be covered in the workshops are:
• Student textbook options;
• Library research — getting started;
• Database essentials;
• Last-minute research tips;
• Company research for the job hunt;
• Using government statistics to support research;
• Graduate research in the disciplines;
• Tips and tricks with engineering e-books;
• Clinical medical apps; and
• Adding library resources to Blackboard courses.
Workshops last about one hour, and most will be held in Carlson Library Room 1025 unless otherwise indicated on the schedule at http://libguides.utoledo.edu/workshops.
“These workshops were created to facilitate student success in multiple respects,” Atwood said. “Whether just starting their college career, engaging in the conversation of scholarship, or searching for jobs, these workshops help students become more effective and efficient researchers and will give them the competitive edge.”
