Senior soccer defender Natalia Gaitàn has been named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association All-Ohio First Team for a second-consecutive season.

She joins two-time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Molly Cornwell (2007 and 2008) as the only players in school history to be selected to the association’s first team on more than one occasion. The Bogota, Colombia, native also was chosen to the association’s second team following the 2010 campaign.

Gaitàn finished the 2012 season second on the team in goals (4) and total points (8). The two-time All-MAC honoree played every minute in all 21 matches this fall and was an integral part of a Toledo squad that advanced to the MAC Tournament semifinals for a seventh consecutive season.

Also this season, Gaitàn became only the third player in school history to earn all-tourney recognition on three occasions (2010, 2011, 2012), joining Ali Leak (2006, 2008, 2009) and Cornwell (2007, 2008, 2009).

An excellent student in the classroom as well, the three-time Academic All-MAC selection earned a spot on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors on America. She became the first member of the program to earn Academic All-America accolades.

The 2012 tri-captain also was named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Third Team.
