Sophomore named to CollegeHoops.net All-MAC Mid-Season Team

With Mid-American Conference play beginning this weekend, sophomore G Rian Pearson has been honored for his play by earning a spot on the CollegeHoops.net All-MAC Team (Pre-League Play Edition).

During the non-conference season, Pearson has led the Rockets with 15.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest in addition to shooting 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from three-point range. He leads the MAC with 3.2 offensive rebounds per game and is third with 8.1 rebounds per game, fifth with 15.8 points per game, sixth with 4.6 defensive rebounds per game and 10th with a 49.7 field-goal percentage. Pearson has scored in double figures in 11 of 13 contests and is tied for third in the conference with three double-doubles.

The Raytown, Mo., native has scored 20 or more points on five occasions, including a career-high 27-point, five-rebound, three-steal performance vs. UIC (Nov. 26). He also has six or more rebounds in all but one contest this season and has scored in double figures in 12 of 14 games.

Joining Pearson on the CollegeHoops.net All-MAC squad are Ohio guard D.J. Cooper, Miami forward Julian Mavunga, Ball State forward Jarrod Jones and Buffalo forward Javon McCrea.

The Rockets will open conference play Saturday, Jan. 7, at Central Michigan at 7 p.m. Toledo then will host Ball State Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. in Savage Arena.
