Late registration fee static through Jan. 13

To ensure students are not adversely affected by problems with the myUT portal earlier this week, the Office of the Treasurer will freeze late registration fees at $50 through Sunday, Jan. 13.

According to the office, only students who register for initial classes from Thursday to Sunday, Jan. 10-13, are affected.

The fee will increase to $100 for those registering after Sunday, Jan. 13.

Students were sent emails informing them of the action. They are encouraged to check their e-accounts on the myUT portal for the most up-to-date information and contact Rocket Solution Central at 419.530.8700 with questions.

  1. Zhuang Zhang says:

I was charged $50 dollars Late Register Fee because i registered class on the First day of the semester. I still do not understand why there is a late registration fee.
Firstly, what is the late fee for? There is no any additional costs for system or university if the students register class at the beginning of the semester, no matter it is the first day or the second day.
Secondly, the late registration fee is charged for late registration, but when is the last day to register class? First day of the week? No. The second day of the week? NO. If the classes are registered before the deadline of registration, where the late registration fee comes from? The late registration fee is totally unreasonable, unconvinced and unsupportable by any fact.
Thirdly,in some cases, students are not able to register the class until the semesters start because of various reasons caused by the university or department, In my case, my account was been hold by Graduate school without any notices until the beginning of the semester. Therefore, at least registration before the first week of the semester should not get any late registration fee. Mostly, the university should be working on providing the students great studying experience and conveniences instead of trying to making money on students although the university is getting through the tight budget period.
I am aware of there are always many ways the university could charge students like creating new fee types or increasing the existing fee, but finally, these will hurt the reputation of the university.

Late registration fee is totally unreasonable.
