The new Pallette Café at Ottawa East soon will serve just the late night crowd, and the Carter Hall POD is extending its weekend hours.

A new POD (Provisions on Demand) also recently opened in the North Engineering Building to serve students from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

“The dining hall changes at The University of Toledo are in direct response to how and when students use the dining halls, and in some cases their requests for changes,” said Joy Gramling, director of auxiliary services.

Beginning Saturday, Feb. 5, the Pallette Café will be open from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. It previously was open from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. And the Carter POD will continue to be open from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, but the Saturday and Sunday hours are being expanded from noon to 2 a.m. from the previous 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The South Dining Hall will close an hour earlier during the week with hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The dining hall in the Student Union still will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.

In addition to the hours of operation changes, starting next Saturday, the Ottawa East Dining Hall will sell coffee at the register and eliminate the need for students to swipe their cards to go into the dining hall when they just want coffee.

The dining service continues to be evaluated and updated based on the wants and needs of students. Currently, a POD option is being discussed for the northeastern area of campus.
