The first Women and Sustainable Agriculture Series will take place at UT through the month of April.
Funded by a Strategic Enhancement Award, the series will focus on a female perspective of food production, including local and global strategies.
The series will begin with a festival of documentaries made by women. Cynthia Vagnetti’s “Voice of American Farm Women” will be shown Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Bowman-Oddy Laboratories Room 1045 on Main Campus. “Homecoming/Sometimes I am Haunted by Memories of Red Dirt and Clay,” an award-winning documentary by Charlene Gilbert, director of the UT Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women and professor in the departments of Women’s and Gender Studies and Theatre and Film, will be screened Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the same location.
The Women and Sustainable Agriculture Series is sponsored by the Department of Environmental Sciences, Department of Women’s and Gender Studies and the Society for Environmental Education.
