A streamlined system for ordering office materials went live last week.

Through Storefront Ordering, designated employees may order business cards, stationery, envelopes and memo pads directly through a Web-based application. According to Christine Smallman, senior manager of marketing services, the simplified process should lead to quicker turnaround in receiving products used on an everyday basis.

“The new system allows our customers to order supplies without a middleman,” Smallman said. “Each order is processed at the time the user enters the information into the system. There’s no one between the customer and the product.”

Employees who normally order supplies will be given rights to Storefront Ordering, which is accessible at www.educationorders.com/ut/login.aspx. After an order is placed, the user will receive a proof of the materials before they are printed.

Under the former system, Smallman said orders were processed in three to four weeks. Depending on users’ timeliness in reviewing proofs, Smallman said materials now should be received within about two weeks of initial orders.

Storefront Ordering also offers more images of materials to be ordered, as well as real-time cost estimates.

“Customers will have access to cost quotes for different quantities before they place their orders,” Smallman said. “Planning the quantity of orders based on budget availability will help improve cost efficiency throughout the University.

“It’s really all about service,” she added. “The University Marketing Office wanted to give customers more control while speeding up the process.”
