Join the Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Program and the UT Police Department for a seminar on healthy relationships Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m. in Thompson Student Union Room 2584.

The seminar aims to show students what a healthy relationship looks like, warning signs of an unhealthy one, how to set boundaries and resolve conflicts, and information on intimate partner violence and sexual assault.

The UT Police education outreach has presented on the topic of healthy boundaries since 2006, and this is the first time teaming up with the Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Program.

“The healthy relationship seminar is a way of providing a safe place for students to talk about relationships and to learn and practice healthy relationship skills, which can be used in all aspects of their daily interactions,” said UT Police LT. Tressa Johnson.

The seminar also will teach students about the support systems and resources available to them and how to access them, said Lena Salpietro, graduate assistant for the Sexual Assault Education and Prevention Program.

“This talk will benefit students by helping them identify what it is they want out of a relationship and give them the tools to implement healthy relationships in their day-to-day lives,” Salpietro said.
