UToledo Spring Festival of New Music Features Professor, Composer March 31

This year’s Spring Festival of New Music features the music of Dr. David Jex, a composer and professor of music at The University of Toledo.

The free, public event features two parts on Thursday, March 31: “A Conversation with David Jex” from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall and the “Large Ensembles Concert” at 7 p.m. in Doermann Theatre in University Hall.

Since 1983, Jex has taught theory and composition at UToledo as well as jazz studies courses. Prior to UToledo, he was an assistant professor at Lycoming College, where he also was an instructor at the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts.

He has won composition prizes and awards from prestigious groups such as the Ohio Arts Council, the Chautauqua Chamber Singers, Louisiana State University and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
