The Satellites Auxiliary recently received ribbons for the Teddy Bear Tie-One-On Party, which will take place Tuesday, July 7, at 9 a.m. in the president’s boardroom on the second floor of Mulford Library on Health Science Campus.
Volunteers will adorn some 400 plush teddy bears that will be given to patients in the Pediatrics Outpatient Clinic and the Emergency Department.
In 2006, University Police Officer Jeni Gerber approached the auxiliary for help to purchase the toy bears to make the hospital a more kid-friendly place. Since then, the auxiliary has raised money for the stuffed animals from sales at the Satellites’ hospital gift shop.
The Satellites Auxiliary is a community group designed to promote education, research and service programs, provide support of patient programs in accordance with the needs and approval of administration, conduct fundraising events, and offer volunteer services.
