15 Rockets Named to Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Mac Team

The University of Toledo women’s track and field team had 15 student-athletes named to the 2021 Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-MAC team, the conference announced Thursday.

Junior Allison Vogl led the team with a 3.988 GPA, followed closely by Madeline Vining (3.970), Emily Vining (3.968), Yana Khabina (3.945) and Stephanie Sherman (3.935).

Among the 15 honorees, Sherman earned second-team All-America in the 10,000m, while Petronela Simiuc (3.720) won titles in the 800m and 1500m at the MAC Championship Meet.

Others on the list are Roma Lucarelli, Ava Moran, Megan Burmeister, Rayna Horner, Hannah Sponaugle, Meltem Yasar, Riley Kwiatkowski, Maya Hannagan and Claire Steigerwald.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the team’s contests. Freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible.
