Senior Sathika Ruenreong birdied two of her final three holes to capture the third tournament title of her collegiate career Sunday with a two-stroke victory at Michigan State’s Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing.
Ruenreong’s impressive play helped UT finish third as a team — one stroke behind the host Spartans — in its season-opening event.

Classmate Manisa Isavas also registered an even-par round Sunday to finish alone in eighth place with an even-par 224 (78-74-72).
Toledo’s senior duo helped the Rockets card the best team score in the final round at nine-over par 297. UT was 15-over par in the final two rounds, which allowed them to nearly tie MSU.
Notre Dame won the tournament title for a second straight year at 23-over par 887 (297-292-298).
Providing the Rockets’ lineup with additional depth were senior Morgan Salm (82-74-77) and freshman Pimchanok Kawil (80-77-76), who tied for 27th place.
Rounding out the Rocket lineup was freshman Natcha Daenpiem, who tied for 44th place at 24-over par 240 (78-79-83). Sophomore Napahan Phongpaiboon competed as an individual and tied for 39th place at 22-over par 238 (79-77-82).
”I think Sathika’s title may have been the greatest regular-season tournament win by an individual in our program history,” Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. “It was very exciting down the stretch, and Sathika really came through with some clutch shots including a 40-foot putt on the final hole. We had a great team effort, and we can’t wait to get back out on the golf course.”
Toledo will return to action next week with a trip to Colorado for the Golfweek Conference Challenge Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 21-23.
