Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., a service and scholarship fraternity at The University of Toledo, will host an Anti-Domestic Violence Gala Thursday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium.
The second annual philanthropic dinner is part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and will support the Bethany House of Toledo, a safe, long-term, transitional shelter for victims of domestic violence.
“We started this event last year because we’ve seen how prevalent domestic violence is in the greater Toledo area and we want to help,” said Jojuan Campbell, a UT student majoring in mechanical engineering and gala marketing coordinator.
The formal event will feature a fully catered dinner from Cottage Inn and will include pasta, salad and bread sticks.
General admission is $5 at the door. Tickets also can be purchased in the Student Union on Monday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at an information table near the South Dining Hall.
Reservations can be requested by emailing email@example.com.
The event is co-sponsored by Alpha Chi Omega and the Sexual Assault Education Prevention Program, and it is part of UT’s Not On My Watch to draw attention to Crime Prevention Month.
