Toledo’s impressive 35-stroke victory at the Rocket Classic has drawn the attention of Golfweek in its collegiate Women’s Midweek Report.

Golfweek“This is very exciting for our program,” Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. “We’ve had a great fall with several school records broken and are playing outstanding. Our national ranking continues to improve. To win three college tournaments in one season is a hard thing to do these days, but our team has really played well, and I hope it is to continue into this week at Indiana.”

In Golfweek’s Big 5, the Rockets are mentioned with Stanford and UCLA in the team category with the following paragraph:

“The Rockets left the field in the dust at their home event, the Rocket Classic at Catawba Island Club. Toledo shot 27-over 891 and was 35 shots ahead of runner-up Bowling Green. It’s the third victory for Toledo so far this fall.”

Sophomores Manisa Isavas and Sathika Ruenreong along with junior Jennifer Elsholz also received recognition in the individual wrap-up of the weekend for finishing in first, second and third place. Golfweek writer Julie Williams wrote:

“Toledo players swept the top three spots on the Rocket Classic leader board as the team won its own tournament by 35 shots. Manisa Isavas won the individual title, her first, at 4-over 220, while Sathika Ruenreong (221) and Jennifer Elsholz (224) were second and third, respectively.”

The Rockets conclude their fall season this weekend with a trip to Greenwood for Indiana’s Hickory Stick Intercollegiate. The Rockets will play 36 holes Saturday, Oct. 19, followed by 18 holes on Sunday, Oct. 20.
