EPIC leadership and professional development conference to be held Nov. 9

EPIC Toledo will host the largest leadership and development conference in the region Thursday, Nov. 9.

The event will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel, 444 N. Summit St.

The conference will include a day of career building and networking by giving students and employees an opportunity to meet with area community and business leaders.

“We want to encourage and equip young professionals with the tools to begin to lead in our community and their careers, and the leadership summit does just that,” said Sara Swisher, director of EPIC Toledo.

The event will include a variety of speakers on topics such as social intelligence, entrepreneurship, servant leadership and unconscious bias.

The closing keynote speaker for the event will be Joe De Sena, CEO and founder of Spartan Race, the No. 1 endurance sports brand in the world. Other featured speakers will be Barb Roose, a local author, speaker and life coach, and Mike Wilcox, chairman and CEO of Wilcox Financial and Wilcox Sports Management.

“The speakers we have coming to the event have something that will move the people in attendance,” said Andy Hudak, investment adviser representative for TransAmerica Financial Group Division and co-chair for the EPIC Toledo Leadership Summit. “It might be their own unique story, or it might be tangible things they have to share regarding communication, personal growth and skill development.”

The University of Toledo is a corporate member of EPIC Toledo, so students and employees who wish to attend will receive member pricing for the event.

For the full day, the cost for members is $75 and will include breakfast, lunch and a happy hour. For the afternoon only, the cost is $35.

“The purpose of the leadership summit is to inspire those in attendance to strive for personal greatness and grow as leaders, business people and human beings,” Hudak said. “We are confident everyone that attends the leadership summit will be impacted in a positive way. Our diverse group of speakers makes sure there is something for everybody.”
