Adopt-a-Family program accepting sponsor forms

November 9, 2015 | UToday

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership is accepting sponsor forms to participate in this year’s Adopt-a-Family and Toys for Tots programs through Friday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m.

“We want to give everyone an opportunity to donate,” said Donovan Nichols, assistant dean for student involvement and leadership in the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. “We want students, faculty and staff, and even community members, to get involved. One avenue is Adopt-a-Family, where [sponsors] can let us know how many kids they would be able to give to.”

Participants for Adopt-a-Family are asked to provide at least three to four brand new, unwrapped gifts per child and a gift card to a local grocery store with sufficient funds to purchase a meal based on the family’s size.

“Last year we helped 30 families and we want to double that,” Nichols said. “We’d really love to be able to adopt 60 families this year, but we can’t do it without the support of The University of Toledo community.”

Additionally, the office is accepting sponsor forms for Toys for Tots. Participants are asked to donate two to three toys per child.

Sponsor forms for both programs must be filled out online and can be found here.

Donations must be dropped off at the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, located in Student Union Room 3504 on Main Campus, by Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m.
