UPDATE: The COVID-19 testing scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19 and Friday, Nov. 20 at UToledo is being moved inside Rocket Hall because of forecasted high winds on Thursday.

The University of Toledo is seeking volunteers to assist with this week’s pop-up COVID-19 testing outside Rocket Hall.

Free COVID-19 tests will be available for UToledo students, faculty and staff from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, and Friday, Nov. 20.

Volunteers are needed for both days to help with registration, paperwork, traffic control and other administrative duties. Volunteers will not be involved in collecting or handling test specimens.

Individuals can sign up via a webform. A brief training session and any necessary personal protective equipment will be provided.

Each day will be split into two shifts, with the first shift running from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the second shift ruing from 2 to 7 p.m. Students and employees are welcome to volunteer, though employees should discuss the time commitment with their supervisor prior to signing up.

The COVID-19 testing is being done in partnership with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department. No appointments or physician referrals are needed. Testing is free and health insurance is not required. UToledo students and employees are asked to bring their Rocket ID.

Samples will be taken via a nasopharyngeal swab.

University officials are strongly encouraging students to take advantage of the opportunity to be tested ahead of Thanksgiving, particularly if their plans include returning home or traveling to spend the holidays with friends and family.

Results are expected to be available within two to three days.
