New Collective Bargaining Agreement in Effect with AFSCME, CWA

New collective bargaining agreements are in effect between The University of Toledo and American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Ohio Council 8 and AFSCME Local 2415, and between UToledo and the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 4319.

The agreement with AFSCME, which represents approximately 1,600 employees on the University’s Health Science Campus, was ratified by membership Oct. 19 and approved by the UToledo Board of Trustees Oct. 28.

The AFSCME contract is retroactive to July 1, 2021 and will run through June 30, 2024. The three-year contract includes a market adjustment for a number of positions in the first year of the contract and a 2% wage increase for all other positions. Employees will receive a 2% increase in both years two and three of the contract.

The agreement with CWA, which represents approximately 340 employees who provide clerical, maintenance and custodial services primarily on UToledo’s Main Campus, was approved by membership Oct. 1 and afterward was signed and in effect in accordance with the fact-finding processes of the Ohio State Employment Relations Board.

The CWA contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2021 and will run through Dec. 31, 2023. The three-year agreement includes a 2% wage increase each year effective the first day of the calendar year for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
