The University of Toledo, in collaboration with the city of Toledo and its Human Relations Commission, will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the 25th annual Unity Day Celebration on Monday, Jan. 19.
UToledo President James Holloway and Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz will welcome participants to the virtual program featuring reflections and artistic performances aligned with this year’s theme, “Our Story, Our Strength.”
These include a keynote interview with Bishop Robert A. Culp.
“I’m pleased to continue this collaboration between the City and the University to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” Holloway said. “More than six decades after his March on Washington, Dr. King’s words and his model of courageous nonviolence remain a roadmap for the advancement of our social systems. The legacy of this important civil rights leader reminds us that we must resist demands to define and divide ourselves by our differences. Instead, we must find strength in our unity.”
To participate in the virtual program beginning at 10 a.m., go to UToledo’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day Celebration website.
