The Central States Communication Association is recognizing The University of Toledo’s Dr. Xianlin Jin as lead author of its Communication Studies Article of the Year.
Jin, who specializes in social media and crisis communications as an associate professor in the Department of Communication of Media, investigated communication patterns surrounding the infant formula shortage in 2022 alongside co-authors Dr. Patric Spence of the University of Central Florida and Dr. Kenneth Lachlan of the University of Connecticut.
Dr. Xianlin Jin is an associate professor in the Department of Communication of Media.
Their article offering theoretical and practical implications for managing crises and correcting misinformation was published in the peer-reviewed journal Communication Studies in 2025.
Communication Studies is a publication of the Central States Communication Association, an academic organization of communications professionals committed to promoting the discipline in educational, scholarly and professional endeavors.
The association will honor Jin, Spence and Lachlan, among other research, teaching and service awardees, during its annual conference in Minneapolis in mid-April.
