Dr. Joan Duggan, an infectious disease specialist at The University of Toledo Medical Center and professor of medicine, was recently announced as a member of the YWCA’s Class of 2022 Milestones Honorees.
The 27th Annual Milestones: A Tribute to Women Awards will be held virtually at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, as part of Women’s History Month. Registration will open later this month.

Established in 1996, the Tribute to Women Awards honors women of northwest Ohio for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions in the areas of arts, business, education, government, sciences, social services and volunteerism.
Duggan was honored for her contributions to the field of sciences.
“The YWCA is a leader in the extremely important work to empower women and eliminate racism,” she said. “I am honored and humbled to be given this award.”
Among the other Milestone Award recipients are three UToledo alumni: Marsha Manahan, who was recognized for business, Jennifer Jarrett, who was honored for arts, and Robin Charney, who was recognized for social services.
