UT Federal Credit Union offers $5,000 in undergraduate scholarships for members

The University of Toledo Federal Credit Union is giving 2015 high school graduates or any current college student the opportunity to win scholarships for the 2015-16 school year.

credit union copyThere will be three scholarships granted within the $5,000 limit: $3,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $500 for third place.

In order to qualify, the applicant must be a member of UT Federal Credit Union in good standing, be a high school student expected to graduate in 2015 or a college student who has graduated from high school within the past three years, and planning to pursue an undergraduate education at least part time.

Eligible participants must complete an essay in 500 words or fewer in response to the question: “Describe a current event and propose the solutions you would suggest to improve or resolve the current issue, such as health care, the economy, discrimination, or another topic of your choice.”

All essays will be judged by the board of directors on originality, grammar, attention to detail and specific examples.

The entry deadline is Friday, March 13.

Winners will be announced Tuesday, March 31, and be recognized at the credit union’s annual meeting Friday, April 10.

Essays and applications should be mailed to: Scholarship Selection Committee, UT Federal Credit Union, 5248 Hill Ave., Toledo, OH 43615.

Locations for the credit union include Student Union Room 3019 on Main Campus and Mulford Library Room 013E on Health Science Campus. The main office is located at 5248 Hill Ave.
