Join The University of Toledo Filipino-American Association next weekend for workshops on cultural and professional development.

Midwest Filipino-American SummitThe UT Filipino-American Association was chosen this year to host the Midwest Filipino-American Summit. The free, public event, which is held every year throughout the region, features a variety of workshops ranging from professional development to working out with a mixed-martial arts fighter.

The summit will begin Friday, March 14, at 8 p.m. with a formal at the Ramada Hotel, 3536 Secor Road in Toledo. It will end with closing ceremonies Sunday, March 16, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student Union.

Most of the summit will take place Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Student Union and Memorial Field House. This will be when the workshops are held, along with a $5 variety show featuring entertainment from Filipino student organizations and Apollo Riego, the magician.

Proceeds from the variety show will go toward the Midwest Association of Filipino-Americans’ philanthropy project to raise money for Advancement of Rural Kids, which is working to aid the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
