New employees now have the same convenient process as existing staff when enrolling in benefit plans.
Online signup during open enrollment became standard across UT’s campuses last fall. As of this month, the approximately 1,500 people joining the University work force each year will enlist in the same manner.
Laura Miller, unit director of benefits in Human Resources and Talent Development, said new faculty and staff employees are directed to online signup through the myUT portal during orientation.
“This is part of HR’s ongoing efforts to make our processes as user-friendly as possible,” Miller said. “We’ve been moving toward paperless systems and now the newest members of our team have the same convenience of online enrollment for the various benefit plans.”
Other enrollment forms will be available online later this year; these will include the fee waiver for tuition benefits and qualifying event paperwork for those needing benefit signup or revisions outside open enrollment dates.
Although many processes are being moved online, Miller said that personal guidance continues to be available from Human Resources and Talent Development. For the most prompt response, email benefits.utoledo.edu. The department strives to respond within 48 hours.
