The University of Toledo’s award-winning, student-produced news program, UT:10 News, has been added to the BCAN lineup.

Thanks to a new partnership with Buckeye Broadband, subscribers can watch UT:10 News replays on BCAN, channels 109 and 609 and on bcanarts.com on Thursdays at 5 and 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m.

“This is another great way to promote our students and showcase the award-winning work they do,” said Jason Hibbs, assistant lecturer in the Department of Communication who teaches the class that produces UT:10 News.

“It gives parents, fans and potential employers yet another place to watch. We are all very thankful to Buckeye for this opportunity.”

Trent Croci, a communication student who helps produce UT:10 News, said reaching an expanded audience is important recognition of the behind-the-scenes efforts by students.

“It’s great being able to broadcast UT:10 to a wider audience now,” Croci said. “Each week, we all work very hard to produce quality content that highlights the community and current events, so to have more ways for people to watch is a good feeling for all of us.”

Last year, newscast replays also were added to WGTE Public Media’s lineup, airing Fridays at 6:30 p.m.

UT:10 News airs live on Youtube and at ut10news.com on Thursdays at noon and 12:30 p.m.

Launched in 2005, UT:10 News covers news and sports from UToledo’s campus, the Toledo area and beyond, and has received numerous awards, including last year’s Award of Excellence from the Broadcast Educators Association’s Festival of Media Arts in the TV News Magazine category, a national competition.

From start to finish, on-camera and behind-the-scenes, UT:10 News is produced by UToledo Department of Communication students.
