Now that the upgrade for The University of Toledo rockets.utoledo.edu email system is complete, there are some things students need to know.
The first thing students might notice is that their email now features 15 more gigabytes of space. Students also now have access to Lync, an instant messenger that will allow them to chat with other UT students, faculty and staff.
Soon students will have access to Microsoft Office tools online that will help them create reports and presentations and collaborate with classmates. They also can share and edit documents from their Windows Phone, iPhone, Android phone, Symbian phone, Blackberry, PC or Mac.
Students now have two separate accounts with the same user name and password — an Office 365 account that allows access to Microsoft Office and Lync, and a personal Microsoft account that offers access to an online drive called “SkyDrive” and use of Microsoft Messenger (Skype).
If students change their passwords for their UT account, it will update the Office 365 account but not the “SkyDrive” account.
This email upgrade is usable on any web browser, though it will require students to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 or higher or Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2010 if those programs are what they use.
