Emma Kertesz, a junior distance runner on the Toledo track and field team, set a new all-time Mid-American Conference record in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational, placing 25th.

Her time of 33:28.58 is also a USA Olympic Trials qualifying time for this summer’s Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., and also will qualify her for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships First Round in Jacksonville, Fla.

“Emma has continued to establish herself as one of the greatest distance runners in MAC history,” said Head Coach Kevin Hadsell. “She patiently keeps working hard, being tough and improving. I think this is just another step in her potential.”

For her outstanding effort, Kertesz has been named the MAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced April 10.
