Established in 1996, The Tribute to Women awards luncheon, which took place virtually on March 26 because of the pandemic, honored women of northwest Ohio for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions in the areas of arts, business, education, government, sciences, social services and volunteerism.

Knox was honored for her contributions to the field of sciences.

“The mission of the YWCA is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all,” Knox said. “I am honored that their leaders believe that I am making significant contributions toward that mission.”

Among the other Milestone Award recipients were several UToledo alumni, including Linda Mansour recognized for business, Clara Petty honored for education, Judge Nicole Khoury in the government category and Susan Carter for volunteerism.

Knox’s area of expertise is factors related to harsh and abusive parenting and child maltreatment prevention program outcomes. She is a Master Trainer for the ACT Raising Safe Kids program, the American Psychological Association’s child maltreatment prevention program.
