Following the conclusion of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, the Toledo track and field team had a school-record eight women named to the All-MAC team.

Emma Kertesz was named the 2012 MAC Women's Outdoor Most Valuable Performer. She won the same award after the MAC Indoor Championships.

The total was also the most of any team in the conference at this year’s championship meet.

Headlining the awards was Emma Kertesz, who received the 2012 MAC Women’s Outdoor Most Valuable Performer Award on top of being named first-team All-MAC. With winning times of 10:33.45 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 16:35.87 in the 5,000 meters, Kertesz led the Rockets to the only two distance-event sweeps in the history of the MAC Championships. She also placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:28.16.

The Women’s Outdoor MVP Award comes just over two months after Kertesz was named the conference MVP for her performance at the MAC Indoor Championships.

Also being named to the All-MAC first-team were Ari Fisher in the 10,000 meters and Huijun Jing in the high jump. Fisher topped the field with a winning time of 35:23.10, while Jing stood atop the podium after successfully clearing a mark of 1.72 meters (5-07.75).

Five Rocket student-athletes earned second-team All-MAC accolades for their second-place performances at the championship meet. In the distance events, Mackenzie Chojnacky cruised to a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:42.93, while Megan Vogelsong finished second in the 10,000 meters in 35:42.03, and Megan Wright placed second in the 1,500 meters in 4:26.65. In jumps, Kiah Douglas reached a second-place distance of 5.98 meters (19-7.50) in the long jump, while Julie Snyder got second in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.72 meters (5-07.75).

As indicated by the high number of student-athletes on the All-MAC team, Toledo was able to capitalize on its depth to produce 132 points at the meet, the highest point total ever recorded by UT at the outdoor championships.

The Rockets have made a steady climb to the top of the MAC standings since finishing last in the conference in 2005 (out of 13 schools) in Head Coach Kevin Hadsell’s first full year as director of track and field.
