Striping, sealing and other maintenance will close three Main Campus parking lots this weekend.
Area 1 northeast of McMaster Hall, Area 6 north of the Health Education Center and Area 8 south of Carter Hall will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 18, will remain closed Sunday, May 19.
All three lots will reopen by Monday morning.
Doug Collins, director of facilities maintenance and grounds, said the routine maintenance will include filling cracks, re-sealing and re-striping. It is part of ongoing maintenance that rotates among the 30 parking areas on Main Campus so the fewest lots are closed at any given time.
“We don’t want every lot closed at once,” Collins said. “We usually get to each parking lot every three years, and we do one-third of them each summer.”
In the case of inclement weather, the maintenance work would be deferred to the following weekend.
