webrocketventureslogo_letterhead1If you’re looking for a way to transform and fund an innovative idea into a legitimate business technology venture, prepare to make your pitch.

Rocket Ventures, a Toledo-based pre-seed-funding source for technology businesses, is seeking people and start-up companies to participate in an event called VentureFair this fall that will give aspiring entrepreneurs an audience with regional venture capital firms and angel investors.

VentureFair will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg. For more information about securing a spot, contact Mike Brooks at Rocket Ventures at brooks@rgp.org or 419.252.2700, ext. 321.

To be considered for participation in VentureFair, individuals or businesses will be required to submit a three-page executive summary about the tech-based venture by Friday, July 31.

After an initial review, independent committees will vet the executive summaries. Those selected for participation in VentureFair will be notified by Monday, Aug. 31.

Participants will be given eight minutes to present in one of five areas of interest: bioscience, alternative energy, advance materials, manufacturing technologies or information technology.

VentureFair also will include a keynote luncheon speaker and three panel discussions on topics important to founders of new businesses and venture capitalists.

There is a $100 nonrefundable executive summary submission fee.

If you would like to discuss your idea with someone at the University, contact Dr. Daniel Kory, associate vice president for technology transfer, at daniel.kory@utoledo.edu or 419.3836924.
