UT’s Clean and Alternative Energy Incubator has been recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine, which stated it was one of 10 incubators in the country that “caught our eyes and might help you get your business started.”

The list is in the June issue dedicated to helping startup companies.
“We are honored to be recognized for the work we do, and more successes are on the way,” said Megan Reichert-Kral, director of incubation.
A $1 million expansion of the Clean and Alternative Energy Incubator is expected to wrap up this summer, following a $2.2 million renovation completed last year. Expansion of the incubator, located at 2600 Dorr St., includes nine physics labs, infrastructure for more lab space, and a 17,000-square-foot second floor for development of more office suites.
Tenants of the Clean and Alternative Energy Incubator are Advanced Distributed Generation, AHL-Tech, Buckeye Silicon, Engineered Process Systems, ShadePlex, SuGanit Systems, SUREnergy and Ugly Data.
Graduates of the program include Calyxo USA, H2 Engine Systems, Innovative Thin Films, MowTeq, Platform Labs and Xunlight.
Incubators provide locations where entrepreneurs can develop and grow self-sufficient, successful companies without necessarily incurring the same costs and concerns as if they were on their own.
The incubators provide everything from office space and administrative support to help with business and marketing plans. University incubators are known for helping the entrepreneurial community to access academic researchers and labs as well as guiding businesses through the economic development programs within the community.
