Over the summer, the third and fourth floors of Carlson Library were renovated to create a comfortable and inviting space for students to study, collaborate on projects, and conduct research.
New study space, quiet study rooms, furniture, paint, carpeting, shelving and lighting are all in place for new and returning students to Carlson Library. To celebrate the renovations, students and their parents are invited to visit the library for a chance to win prizes the first few weeks of the semester.

Contests also are planned for students beginning Monday, Aug. 22, with opportunities to win prizes, including an Amazon Fire HD10.
Students are invited to take a selfie, or “shelfie,” with a favorite book or favorite spot to study on one of the newly renovated floors of Carlson and post it to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #UTShelfie2016. To be eligible to win, students also need to follow Carlson Library on social media (@utcarlsonlib), including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The student whose shelfie has the most likes on social media will win an Amazon Fire. Second place will win a $20 Starbucks gift card. The shelfie contest will be open from Monday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Sept. 2. Winners will be notified Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Students also can enter in raffle drawings to win gift bags of library-related items. Raffle boxes will be placed on the renovated floors, and one drawing will occur each day from Monday, Aug. 22, through Friday, Aug. 26.
