It’s been a busy summer for UToledo’s Facilities and Construction, which completed a slate of renovation and infrastructure projects on Main Campus and Health Science Campus and is advancing several more that will wrap up in the months ahead.
“This summer’s work reflects the kind of investment our campus deserves — from creating a welcoming front door for prospective students and families to modernizing the spaces where our patients receive care,” said Jason Toth, senior associate vice president for Campus Planning and Facilities and chief facilities and real estate officer. “The goal is to showcase the University with campuses that are well maintained and moving forward.”
In late winter, construction on the new Dorothy and Georgianna Saloff Welcome Center began. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the dedicated space to prospective students, families and campus visitors is scheduled next month.
Main Campus
Completed projects include a roof and skylight replacement at Student Recreation Center; structural repairs to Glass Bowl Stadium; renovations to the dean’s suite in Gillham Hall; a new student lounge on the first floor of Savage and Associates Business Complex; a new Student Ambassador Lounge on the first floor of Stranahan Hall; and a new Global Initiatives Office on the first floor of Snyder Memorial Building.
The team also completed renovations to MacKinnon Hall, Scott Hall and Tucker Hall, including the new Dorothy and Georgianna Saloff Welcome Center, which will give prospective students, families and campus visitors a dedicated space to begin their UToledo experience.
Two Main Campus projects remain underway. First-floor renovations to Thompson Student Union are planned for completion at the start of spring semester, and an underground steam, condensate and chilled water replacement project along Stadium Drive is expected to be complete by the end of October.
Health Science Campus
At UTMC, crews completed renovations to the men’s and women’s operating room locker rooms, cardiac catheterization lab 4 and the nuclear medicine suite.
Work continues on several projects at the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center, including renovations to the digital mammography and CT simulation suites that are planned for completion in November, and a new PET/CT suite, expected to be complete in January. A new first-floor student lounge in the Mulford Library Building is planned for completion in September.
