Beginning in September, University Wellness and UToledo Pharmacies are partnering to provide monthly health prevention screenings. Prevention screenings are an opportunity to learn more about one’s health and potential risks before more serious issues may present. The screenings included are blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and heel DEXA scan.
“Health screenings can be a very effective tool for individuals trying to stay on top of their health risk. The screenings are not meant to be diagnostic, so we highly recommend individuals to follow up with their health care provider,” said Andrea Masters, associate director of University Wellness and Health Promotion.
All screenings are complementary and confidential and are available to UToledo employees and students. Although fasting for cholesterol and glucose can be helpful, they are not required for the finger stick screenings.
Screenings will be offered on Main and Health Science Campuses. No appointment is necessary, and screenings are on a first-come, first-served basis.
