The University of Toledo Lake Erie Center will host a free, public presentation and excursion highlighting local moth species on Wednesday, Sept. 9
Trevor Zook, the invasive species manager for the Ottawa National Wildlife Reserve, will present “Mothing: The Right Obsession Hobby for You?” from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Zook will begin the program with an introduction to the beauty and diversity of moths. Then participants will follow him outdoors for a “sheeting” excursion, in which participants will attract and identify more than a dozen species.
A hat and dark clothing that covers arms and legs are recommended.
The UToledo Lake Erie Center is a research and educational facility focused on contributing to the understanding of freshwater ecosystems, which sustain a diversity of aquatic life and provide safe drinking water, fishing and recreation, with research applicable to the Great Lakes and aquatic ecosystems worldwide.
The center is located at 6200 Bay Shore Road in Oregon.
