Senior Piyathida Chaiyapan finished as the co-champion and Toledo opened its fall season with a solid fourth-place showing at Illinois State’s Redbird Invitational in Normal Sunday.

“I’m very pleased with Piyathida’s play and it’s great to see her begin her senior season on such a high note,” Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. “It’s also a good way for the team to begin the year, and we’re going to look to build on the momentum we’ve established next weekend when we go to Michigan State.”

Sophomore Kate Hoops finished alone in 14th place at 15 over par 231 (76-79-76), with junior Allison Schultz just five strokes back tied for 21st place at 20 over 236 (77-79-80). Freshman Lauren Stephens competed as an individual and tied for 44th place at 27 over par 243 (77-90-76).
