Toledo upsets No. 18 Arkansas, 16-12

The Toledo Rockets visited War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and upset the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks, 16-12.

UT scored first with a five-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Phillip Ely to junior wide receiver Corey Jones in the first quarter, but the Rockets failed to pick up two points on a conversion attempt.

Toledo added three points when freshman kicker Jameson Vest nailed a 38-yard field goal to make it 9-7 at halftime.

Junior running back Damion Jones-Moore ran 11 yards for a TD in the third quarter to put the Rockets up 16-7.

The Razorbacks battled back in the fourth and added a field goal to edge closer, 16-10.

Late in the fourth quarter, Toledo’s tough defense kept Arkansas out of the end zone, stopping the Razorbacks at the eight-yard line with 1:55 to go in the game.

After the offense took some time off the clock, to gain better field position, the Rockets took a safety to make the score 16-12.

With 52 seconds left, Toledo lined up for a kickoff and corralled the Razorbacks at their own 32-yard line on the return.

The Razorbacks pushed the ball down the field, but the Toledo defense stopped Arkansas to secure the big win.
