All applications and leadership nominations for the third cohort of UToledo’s Staff Leadership Development Program are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30.

The one-year program is designed to develop emerging, high-potential leaders to help them grow in their existing positions at the University and later assume expanded leadership roles at the University. Eligible staff must have at least two years of employment with UToledo.

“Selected participants are required to attend at least three hours of course work every month, except during July and August when they will have summer reading assignments,” said Wendy Davis, associate vice president and chief human resources officer. “Additionally, they need to complete a capstone project by October 2020.”

Approximately 20 individuals are selected annually to participate in the esteemed program, which launched in 2017.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Staff Leadership Development Program,” said Jamie Fager, senior business manager in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and former president of the Professional Staff Association, who was a member of the program’s first cohort.

It’s a great program for those looking for leadership positions, and it provides insight on other areas of UToledo that you may not necessarily be involved with on a day-to-day basis, she added.

Interested staff members should complete an application form expressing their interest. Additionally, deans, vice presidents and other senior leaders may recommend an employee by submitting a nomination form on his or her behalf. Forms and additional information are available on the Staff Leadership Development Program website.

A multidisciplinary selection committee will review all forms, and individuals selected to be part of the program’s third cohort will be notified by Tuesday, Oct. 15.
