Nearly 40 members of Student Veterans of America at The University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University joined forces last Saturday to deliver and present the game ball to officials in their third annual “Ruck the Ball” 24-mile march between the two universities leading up to the annual Battle of I-75 football matchup between the Rockets and the Falcons at Bowling Green this Saturday, Oct. 11. The march, which this year began at UToledo, aims to bring attention to the issue of the high suicide rate among our nation’s veterans.

“This event was made possible only by our nearly 40 participants, support staff from both universities, a few volunteers and our escort from the State Highway Patrol and Bowling Green Police,” said Kyle Jakob, a coordinator and school certifying official in the Military Service Center. “We appreciate all support and participation and look forward to bringing it back home to UToledo next year.”
