pinkIn honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will host the I Believe in Pink Ball, a charity event that will raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The event will take place Friday, Oct. 11, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Student Union Ingman Room.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 in advance at Rocket Copy outside of the Student Involvement Office or for $15 at the door.

All students and faculty are invited to attend the dance, and a survey on the I Believe in Pink website allows attendees the chance to influence the set list by selecting what music they prefer and submitting songs they want to hear played at the dance.

Donations can be made at the Office of Student Experience or dropped off in the Alpha Kappa Alpha mailbox outside the Office of Greek Life in Student Union Room 3504. Those who donate also will have their name on the event website.

Alpha Kappa Alpha has a goal to raise $1,000 that will be donated for breast cancer research.

“I’m really excited for the dance,” said Isis Darks, vice president of Alpha Kappa Alpha. “It’s an opportunity to have a lot of fun and raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. And you don’t have to run a race, you get to dance and have a good time.”
