The importance of observation and recordkeeping of the Great Lakes will be discussed Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at UT’s Lake Erie Center.

Dr. Jennifer Read, director of Great Lakes Observing System, will give a talk titled “Measuring for Management: The Great Lakes Observing System, a Collaborator and Facilitator of Data Collection, Management and Integration in the Great Lakes Region.”

The Great Lakes Observing System is one of 11 regional associations of the Integrated Ocean Observing System, which is a partnership among federal, academic and private sector organizations that work to provide tools and forecasts to improve safety, enhance the economy, and protect the environment.

Refreshments will be served at the free, public event, which will take place in Lake Erie Center Room 155.

The center is located at 6200 Bayshore Road in Oregon.
