The University of Toledo Medical Center recently received the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Award from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

The award is given for achieving at least 85 percent adherence to all Get With the Guidelines-Stroke performance achievement indicators and at least 75 percent compliance with a minimum of five Get With the Guidelines-Stroke quality measures.

“The Gold Plus Award is a testament to UTMC’s dedication to the guideline-based treatment of stroke patients. As a recipient of the highest award that the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association bestows upon a hospital, UTMC is part of an elite list,” said Abigail Loechler, director of quality and systems improvement for the associations. “This award is not only a celebration for the hospital, but for the patients who are receiving such excellent care, resulting in a higher quality of life.”

Silver, Gold, Silver Plus and Gold Plus award-winning hospitals are honored at national events during the International Stroke Conference. UTMC is the only hospital in northwest Ohio to have achieved the Gold Plus level.
