Native-American photographer to speak Nov. 14

Matika Wilbur, a leading photographer in the Pacific Northwest, will visit UT Thursday, Nov. 14.

She will give a presentation featuring her photography and talk about her work at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium.

Wilbur is of the Swinomish and Tulalip tribes in Washington. Her images explore the contemporary Native-American identity and experience.

She has exhibited in international venues, including the Royal British Columbia Museum of Fine Arts and the Nantes Museum of Fine Arts.

Wilbur studied photography at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Montana and received a bachelor’s degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography in California.

Her presentation will celebrate Native-American Heritage History Month at the University.
