webconfucious_institute-logo2After a postponement in the fall, the Confucius Institute at The University of Toledo is set to hold its opening ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 2.

The institute is a network of internationally connected organizations with one common goal: to promote understanding of the Chinese language and culture and help pave the way for more meaningful cultural exchange with the Chinese people.

The free, public ceremony will celebrate the inauguration of a new collaboration between UT and China’s Yanshan University. It will take place from 11 a.m. to noon in the Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall.

An opening ceremony was originally planned for September, but visa issues prohibited representatives from Yanshan University from attending.
