H-1B, Permanent Residency Information Sessions slated

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services will hold an H-1B and Permanent Residency Information Session on both campuses this week.

The session on Main Campus will take place Friday, Dec. 18, at 9:30 a.m. in Student Union Room 3016, and the program on Health Science Campus will be held Friday, Dec. 18, at 2:30 p.m. in Mulford Library Room 202.

This training will be tailored for department coordinators and administrators involved in the sponsorship process or the hiring of the H-1B employee; it is not meant for foreign nationals who hold such status.

Topics that will be covered will include:

• Brief overview of the H-1B classification and permanent residency sponsorship;

• The sponsoring stakeholder/hiring unit duties in maintaining compliance under federal law;

• Current issues and trends in H-1B/permant residency sponsorship; and

• Introducing new processing procedures and improved request forms to increase efficiency.

There also will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation.

Coffee will be provided by the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.
