As the 150th anniversary for The University of Toledo approaches, the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women prepares to honor accomplished, innovative and pioneering women of UToledo during Women’s History Month next March.

“The history of our university is rich with women who have opened doors to exciting new possibilities through their work on campus or in the larger community,” said Dr. Angela Fitzpatrick, director of the Eberly Center.

“I think of high-profile women such as Catharine Eberly, an alumna and former trustee who co-founded the Center for Women, and Dr. Helen Cooks, a former faculty member who founded Toledo Excel. Yet there are other, less visible UToledo women who have also had a powerful impact on our communities, and we want to create space to share their stories too.”

The Eberly Center invites nominations for current and former women-identified students, faculty, staff and trustees whose research, teaching, policies, practices, service or other work has had a powerful impact on campus or in the world beyond. Any individual may submit nominations and may nominate multiple women. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominations are due Jan. 23.

A committee of UToledo faculty, staff and students from both campuses will review nominations and select the final honorees who will be recognized at a ceremony on March 3.

Visit the Eberly Center’s website for the online nomination form; for more information, contact Eberly Center Director Angie Fitzpatrick via email or by calling 419-530-8574.
