Bogden<\/p><\/div>Daniel Bogden, the U.S. attorney for Nevada, will return to his alma mater to deliver the UT College of Law commencement address Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. in the Student Union Auditorium.<\/p>\n

There are 120 candidates for law degrees who completed their course work in the fall, spring and summer terms who will march in the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey D. Reusch is the valedictorian and will address his peers during the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very happy to welcome back U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden to speak at commencement,\u201d said Daniel Steinbock, interim dean of the UT College of Law. \u201cHe has a distinguished record of public service. As the top federal law enforcement official in Nevada, he is one example of where a UT law degree can take our graduates.\u201d<\/p>\n

After receiving a juris doctor from the UT College of Law in 1981, Bogden worked in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General\u2019s Office and the Washoe County (Nevada) District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

In 1990, he joined the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Reno, Nev., where he prosecuted cases as a member of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. He became chief of the Reno Division of the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in 1998 and managed the workplace while continuing to prosecute cases involving organized crime, violent crime, drug crimes and civil rights violations.<\/p>\n

Bogden was nominated and unanimously confirmed to be the U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada in 2001. <\/p>\n

In 2007, after Bogden and several other U.S. attorneys were dismissed by the Bush administration, he joined the Nevada law firm McDonald CaranoWilson.<\/p>\n

President Barack Obama renominated Bogden to be the U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada and he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2009.<\/p>\n

With offices in Las Vegas and Reno, Bogden oversees 53 assistant U.S. attorneys and 96 attorneys and employees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
