Lehmann<\/p><\/div>Hannah Lehmann, a printmaking student at The University of Toledo, recently received the Zygote Press Residency award that includes a three-month residency at Zygote Press, a nonprofit, artist-run organization in Cleveland, to be used throughout the academic year. <\/p>\n

\u201cA UT student has never won this award before, and I am just elated to have this opportunity,\u201d Lehmann said. \u201cI have had a great experience at UT, and I am very excited to be able to continue my work in another printmaking facility, especially one that has a letter press.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Zygote Press Residency is awarded to a graduating senior who is technically and conceptually skilled in using printmaking skills in his or her works of art. Lehmann was chosen in March after she attended a national conference for printmaking.<\/p>\n

\u201cHannah is a very dedicated artist who has developed a very exciting and coherent body of work using the theme of sugar as subject matter,\u201d said Arturo Rodriguez, UT associate professor of art. \u201cExamples of her work recently were on display in the Department of Art\u2019s Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition in the Center for the Visual Arts Gallery.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this spring, she presented her work, \u201cSickly Sweet: A Visual Commentary on the History of Sugar and the Implications of Its Use in Contemporary Society,\u201d at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Ithaca College in New York.<\/p>\n

Lehmann is expected to graduate this summer with a major in printmaking and a minor in drawing and ceramics and will complete the residency after graduation.<\/p>\n

Opportunities while at Zygote Press will include full access to the shop and all materials and equipment, inclusion in Zygote\u2019s archive collection, and discounts on classes and workshops for three months. <\/p>\n

Zygote Press also has facilities for intaglio, relief, letterpress, silkscreen, waterless lithography, Xante, and photo-crossover techniques.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
