{"id":12719,"date":"2011-07-28T04:33:14","date_gmt":"2011-07-28T09:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=12719"},"modified":"2011-07-25T12:12:33","modified_gmt":"2011-07-25T17:12:33","slug":"revised-tobacco-policy-to-go-into-effect-aug-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/07_28_2011\/revised-tobacco-policy-to-go-into-effect-aug-1","title":{"rendered":"Revised tobacco policy to go into effect Aug. 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Signs that change is literally in the air are evident as the effective date for UT\u2019s revised tobacco policy draws near.<\/p>\n<p>Construction on several designated tobacco use areas continues, and signage will be posted throughout UT\u2019s campuses before students return. The revised policy will take effect Monday, Aug. 1.<\/p>\n<p>The policy restricts tobacco use to the designated huts, but does not affect Health Science Campus, which has been tobacco-free since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Alexis Blavos, alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention specialist and a member of the committee that crafted the policy change, has hosted monthly informational meetings since the revision was announced. During the meetings, held the first Tuesday of each month in various locations, Blavos discusses tobacco cessation methods, including medication, support groups and online counseling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell anyone who\u2019s attempting to curb or stop their tobacco use to check their individual insurance plans to see what type of assistance is covered,\u201d Blavos said. <\/p>\n<p>For more information on the monthly meetings, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utoledo.edu\/studentaffairs\/reslife\/ATODPC\/Quit%20Tobacco.html\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Seven of the designated huts will be scattered across Main Campus, with one each on the Scott Park Campus for Energy and Innovation and at the Lake Erie Center. <\/p>\n<p>Locations on Main Campus will be:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 East side of Carlson Library;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Between Stranahan Hall and University Hall;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Between Academic House and International House;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Between the Crossings and Ottawa House;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In McComas Village;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Near Dowd, Nash and White halls; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Near Nitschke Hall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Starting Monday, Aug. 1, employees and students will need to follow UT\u2019s revised tobacco policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":6,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,7],"tags":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12719"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/6"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=12719"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/12719\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12719"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=12719"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=12719"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
